The hot tropics of Bali influenced the early development of summer’s prints. Motifs of palm leaves and and hibiscus flowers cannot be missed, while the bespoke nature of each one is evident – the studio painted in inks and layered brushstrokes.
Exaggerated florals play out over bohemian dresses – from those drawn with ink to petals painted in gouache. The Graphic Patchwork was inspired by the zig-zag motifs of Balinese batik kamen, while the Morph Ikat has equally traditional origins – antique Indonesian textiles.
Deep in the jungle, the palm print features hand-painted fronds with flashes of azure blue in highlight brushstrokes. It is that colour combination, movement and modernity that characterises the studio’s prints and summer’s free spirit. Now, which to choose…?
