The English Rose Knows: Summer Parties
The clink of ice cubes, the hiss of fizz, the pop of a cork. The sound of summer is the sound of cocktails. When the sun shines its brightest, noon is never too early. Gather friends, and gather round the temple of summer.
Matthew’s inspiration for the new collection caught my imagination for summer party plans. He imagined young Brit bohemians throwing a midsummer cocktail party in the woods. It’s captured in my favourite print, with its wild strawberries and Martini glasses. Failing a road trip to my nearest forest or return to my childhood home with its fairytale woodland, I’ll channel that free-spirited vibe at home. Think wild flowers and fruity cocktails. Hired Mandarin ducks would most likely ruin my decor but it’s the drinks until dawn and dancing until dew drops fall beneath my feet that truly evoke Matthew’s vision. I’ve even heard a rumour he might be throwing his very own ode to the woodland soiree in his garden… My dress will tell the story in its hand-painted print and sequins reminiscent of the daybreak dew. I’ll carry the champagne coupes, Mr H packs the Pimms, my guests bring handsome men or hedonistic treats.
If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise.

P.S. New season, new rose. I’ve got the Midas touch with my gilded petals.
