The Wild Botanical Gown
With its louche T-shirt style, this organza gown might try trick you into thinking it’s an easy, free-spirited slip of a thing. But the embroidery exposes the truth – four artisans spent 120 hours with needle and white silk thread, artfully creating lush blooms to tumble down the gown. In monochrome tones, summer’s florals move away from their usual romance towards a sensual hothouse glamour, just like the sheer organza fabric itself. Look closely: a butterfly flits between the twisting leaves, a dragonfly settles by a petal and the flowers themselves flutter as you walk. Hand-cut daisies were sewn onto the gown with 420 miniature pearl-like beads and Swarovski crystals to crown each one.
“She is jet-set and modern; I wanna be at the party she’s going to.” So Matthew describes his woman for summer 2014, and this gown, the finale of the show, is just what we see her wearing.
