The English Rose Knows: November Nights

Chic not freak for Halloween and fiery brights for Bonfire Night.

English Rose Halloween

Remember remember the fifth of November, how could I ever not? Over the next week, a light display to delight my kaleidoscopic dreams and rival Matthew’s archive is set to illuminate the view from my bay windows in Primrose Hill. The rockets and roman candles scare my peacocks, but I know they’re also jealous of the impressive displays.

Before that, there’s Halloween and my trips about town are scattered with fancy dress veering from the shriek to the freak. But how to stay chic?

Halloween Instagram snaps will haunt you for years to come so avoid anything that comes too close to the smutty or nutty sides of the fancy dress spectrum. Gothic romance is hot, warts and suspenders are not. This year, I’ll style fright-night brights in orange Winter Organza one evening, then I’ll be a gothic heroine the next (gown plus ghoulish visage inspired by Matthew’s face paints on our trip to Cirque du Soir this year). On Bonfire Night, I’ll layer up my lapin fur then add a glittering tassel necklace. After all, I can’t let the fireworks beat my brights.

With love,
The English Rose x
