The English Rose Knows: Party Season
In my opinion, there shouldn’t be a season for parties. Why restrict yourself to December when you could gather guests, dim the lights and shake up a Martini throughout the year? But tradition dictates, and perhaps the season of goodwill does give it all a certain allure. And if we’re proclaiming a full season when I can dress up to the nines, then I’m all for it.
For an instant flash of brilliance, consider the crescent necklace. I love it next to my ice blue roll neck – come 6pm, I’m sweeping my hair up and adding this opulent statement before I’m off into the night. Believe me, it’s a conversation piece.
If you’re hosting, fill your room to bursting Holly Golightly-style, prepare a few things in plentiful proportions (lots of perfect salmon blinis are far preferable to the always-left-behind pineapple and cheddar) and play up your playlists (Scarlett Etienne’s mixes always work for me). Just allow time to slip on your look – in the city, I usually stick to a cocktail dress so I’m ready for wherever the night takes me. But this weekend, it’s a big party in the country for me – black tie, log fires, decadent dancing till dawn… This cobalt blue gown is the one for me. Now, where’s my recipe for mulled wine?
