Pre Spring 2015
Today, The MW Daily reveal a first look at next year’s spring collection. Inspired by escapism and English femininity, Pre Spring 2015 collection draws from Matthew’s love of exotic climes fused with a modern sensibility. A narrative of exploration and escapism is balanced with a sense of British heritage.
Languid dresses and blouses feature soft waterfall ruffles; these are complimented by structured pieces in jacquard tailoring and brocade. Prints draw from key motifs of the brand’s DNA which are this season reinvigorated in light of recent trips – Cuban swallowtail butterflies feature alongside wild Maldivian orchids. The soft floral and delicate winged prints are contrasted with an overlay of graphic diamonds inspired by geometric parquetry.
Distinctly feminine silhouettes are influenced by a haute-bohemian spirit, continuing the mainstay of relaxed glamour for which the brand is celebrated.
The delicate beauty of wings is also captured in the collection’s embroidery: butterfly lace is hand-embroidered with a mixture of metallic and opaque sequins alongside micro-beads, whilst ombré silk thread-worked wings are layered over organza.
Textures are furthered explored with bespoke tufted trims embellishing the jacquard weave fabrics; cut to various lengths, they are hand stitched onto the weave to create a multi-dimensional effect. A palette of vivid colours of jade, indigo and fuchsia are balanced with nostalgic shades of lemon yellow sorbet, spearmint and bubblegum pink evoking the charm and elation of the spring season.
