SS12 by Errol Rainey

A short film by Errol Rainey showcasing the Matthew Williamson spring/summer 2012 collection. The show was held at the Tate Modern, London, during London Fashion Week September 2011.

Stylized prints are at the core of this collection. A pretty blossom print outlined in a neon haze encases miniature scenes of Tokyo by night. Further blossom prints have been taken in an abstract approach. Through digitally distorting outlines and colour, they take on an ikat graphic. These ideas led Williamson to research the work of British artist, Matt Collishaw, feted for his arresting digital imagery. As a result, the final print in this series takes on a more abstract display of form and colour. Blossom buds are super-sized and corroded into a neon painterly effect, whist the scale and intensity of the print is adapted for each silhouette.
