Pre Spring 2013 Inspiration

This season the Matthew Williamson muse was influenced by Mat Collishaw, an artist who uses photography and video to create distorted images of nature. This idea was combined with the work of German designer ‘Judith Seng’ who explores new conventions in furniture design. Her gradient furniture was the initial focal point for fabrications, combining perfectly smooth and glossy surfaces. The collection is heavily inspired by geometric design and simplistic lines.

This concept was transformed through the use of prints which showcase distorted nature through technology. The idea being ‘Perfect Imperfection’, taking beautiful imagery and using digital processes to make them appear imperfect, we did this by slicing and pixilation.

Our embroidery this season sits back with the prints; we have a soft story using Swarovski crystals and metal work inserted into billowing chiffon gowns, chic and sophisticated. This is contrast with a more modern twist using leather fringing and tucks, together with bonded optical foil inserts. These dresses and skirts embrace technology in a versatile and clean manner.
